What was done
A busy feed buries beloved posts. So this guide reads across the Westchester Foodies Facebook group: every recommendation and comment in the public conversations it has gathered, pulled into a small database. Each time a member names a place, that’s one vote — and when a single comment recommends several places, each one is counted separately. Different spellings (Brothers Fish & Chips / Brothers Fish and Chips) are merged so the love isn’t split.
How “most loved” is counted
A place rises purely by how many different neighbors vouch for it — counted once per person, so one enthusiastic regular can’t stuff the ballot. (How many separate conversations it appears in is not a ranking factor.) No editor’s thumb on the scale, no pay-to-play, nothing influenced by ads or free food.
The blurb is a summary, not a quote
For most places the line is a consensus summary — a short distillation of what members said about it, the few things it’s known for, not one person’s words, grounded in real comments and naming no one. For a handful of well-recommended spots where members vouched for the place but didn’t describe it, the blurb is instead generalized from public reviews. Either way it stays positive and factual.
How the pages are organized
Eat & Drink is everywhere you go to eat or drink — restaurants, cafes, storefront bakeries, ice-cream shops (coffee is a filter here, not its own page). Markets is where you shop. Makers is the food people without a storefront — home bakers, cake artists, small-batch makers, trucks and pop-ups you order from. Caterers & Events is for hiring help and gathering.
Verified vendor details
Each featured place can carry verified details — address, phone, website, menu, hours — confirmed from real sources and dated. Anything that couldn’t be confirmed is left blank rather than guessed. So far 271 places are detailed; the rest follow as the guide grows. Hours and phones change, so treat them as a snapshot and call ahead.
Its limits (said plainly)
- It’s a sample, not the whole group — the picture gets richer as more posts are read in.
- A place being quiet here doesn’t mean it isn’t loved; it may just not have come up yet.
- Below three distinct voices, a spot is held back rather than overclaimed.
- Town filtering and the storefront-vs-maker split fill in as more places are confirmed.
